Welcome to IntuitiveDreams. My aim in writing these articles is to make you, the reader, become aware of how dreams and intuition can be used to balance Mind, Body, and Spirit with the activities of your daily lives. Because everyone embraces spirituality in a different manner this awareness is going to be a rather individual experience for each of you. However, the key word here is awareness. The more you understand how the role of your dreams and intuition can compliment your connection to Spirit, the easier it will be to direct your thoughts, feelings and eventually your actions, to blending both the spiritual and practical aspects of your life together. This inevitably results in what I like to call the art of balance.

To begin with, lets look at the three main aspects of spirituality, which are Mind, Body, and Spirit. You often will see these three aspects illustrated utilizing the shape of a triangle. Spirit is always at the top point of the triangle, while Mind and Body are opposite each other at the bottom corners. In using the shape of a triangle, it appears that while Mind, and Body, support Spirit, they do not quite attain that lofty perch that Spirit does. In other words, it is as if Spirit has more value than the aspects of Mind and Body. That outlook in itself creates an imbalance of energy. Instead, I would suggest that when thinking about Mind, Body, and Spirit, you think in terms of a circle, with all three being equal energies. Picture Mind, Body, and Spirit represented as a circle divided into three equal sections. I like to use a circle because as you become aware of the roles Mind, Body, and Spirit have in your life, you will realize that all three are interdependent. If one area is lacking, the other areas will suffer as a result. For example, if you practice Yoga (as a connection to your Spirit) but don’t get enough sleep or eat properly, your Yoga postures will be affected through lesser concentration (Mind) or a lack of strength (Body). In order to get the strongest connection with the spiritual aspects of our lives, we need to be aware of how our daily actions and environment can affect the balance between Mind, Body, and Spirit.

In applying these ideas to your own daily actions, it is helpful if you think in terms of personal energy. Personal energy is not just your physical energy. It also consists of your emotional / intuitive sensitivity, and the energy created by your thoughts and feelings. Have you ever walked into a room filled with people and had strong gut feelings about a person standing close to you without having talked to this person? As the energy from another person’s thoughts and feelings radiates out from their bodies and comes in contact with our bodies, our own energy will react to it in the form of intuition. This what “gut feelings” are really all about. We are using our own personal energy as part of our intuition to perceive or become more aware of how our environment is affecting us. The more sensitive you are, the more you are going to react both mentally and physically to your environment. In my life, my sensitivity was not something I considered beneficial until I understood it from an energetic standpoint. Once I understood that the environment played a role in what I was reacting to, I stopped labeling my sensitivity as a weakness. By doing so, I strengthened my connection to it, which in turn has made my intuition stronger. So by changing my outlook (Mind), I embraced my sensitivity (Body), which connected me with my intuition (Spirit).

Dreams are another aspect of utilizing one’s personal energy. Everyone dreams, although not everyone remembers his or her dreams. I treat my dreams as if they are the voice of my intuition. When people hear of my interest in working with dreams, they often tell me they don’t remember their dreams. The first thought that will cross my mind when I hear this is to wonder how much personal energy they have. In this age of technology, we now have the resources to burn the candle at both ends much easier than before. We are a society that is both sleep and energy deprived. It comes as no surprise to me that more and more people are embracing meditation and Yoga as a way to have stillness in their lives. So if you are having trouble remembering your dreams, set an intention to yourself before you go to sleep that you are going to remember your dreams (Mind), make sure you are getting enough sleep or quiet time (Body) and write down anything you remember as soon as you wake up, even if it is just an emotion you are currently feeling. This will strengthen your connection to your Spirit, which in turn, over time, will give you more energy to remember your dreams.

Over the next few weeks, take a non-judgmental look at yourself and your environment. Think about your spiritual values and the life you are currently leading. Where is your energy going? Is your environment making you emotionally reactive? Is it draining your energy or causing you to have regrets? I’ve noticed most of the people I have met in various groups or workshops dealing with spirituality have a very strong sense of values. They are as a group, also very emotionally and intuitively sensitive. A feeling of imbalance between our daily lives and our spiritual lives can stem from the conflict between our values and our regrets. Our values have the ability to move us forward and connect with our spiritual nature, yet our regrets cause us to waste emotional energy that could be used to strengthen our connection to spirit. In considering the regrets in your life, take the time to listen to what your intuition (Body) and dreams (Mind) are telling you. Focus your awareness and your actions on strengthening your connection with Spirit, in this manner you will have taken the first step in the
art of balance.
